Happy New Year, yall…and good riddance, 2020, amirite? For the past few years, many of you have followed both my Whole30 and FWTFL journeys, and I am SUPERR excited to get started again this year. After polling you guys on Instagram, I wanted to explain exactly what the FWTFL diet is, how you can be successful, and my review of the program that I started last March. It’s a new year, and there are a lot of diet programs out there. Of course eating well and losing weight is important for a person’s overall health, but it is important that a new program is simple to implement and effective in getting results. As described on their website, “the FASTer Way is the most effective online program that will empower you to transform your life through simple, effective, cutting-edge fitness and nutrition strategies.” Since starting the program 9 months ago, I have less fat around my midsection, more energy, and get to enjoy the foods I love, without a strict elimination diet. So, what exactly is the FWTFL diet?!
WHAT IS FWTFL DIET?
I first learned about the FWTFL Program through my friends Beth Chappo with Seersucker and Saddles and Natasha Stoneking with Hello Happiness Blog. After a media trip with Natasha last January, she had me convinced after discussing both the ease of the program and its effectiveness. I also started following Amanda Tress, the founder + creator. She has FOUR kids, and has built one of the fastest growing companies in the country. I LOVE how she is empowering women to take control of their health and stick to a program that they can implement with their busy schedules.
In short, FWTFL focuses on three components: carb cycling, macro tracking, and intermittent fasting–more on that in a bit. The program provides regular and Vegan meal plans, daily 30 minute workouts, and an intuitive app to help you achieve longterm success. I typically mix in some of their workouts with my Irontribe and Battle Republic classes. I will dive deeper into the 3 components in the next section.

THE THREE MAIN COMPONENTS OF FWTFL
CARB CYCLING | TEACH YOUR BODY TO BURN FAT, NOT CARBS
According to the FASTer Way website, carb cycling is an alteration of carbohydrate intake to prevent fat loss plateaus and to keep your metabolism working effectively. Basically, you cycle between low carb days and regular macro days to ensure that your body burns fat effectively, without causing significant hormonal damage or dips in energy. This is NOT a low-carb diet. The best part is you reduce your carb intake for TWO days (50 net carbs on Mondays and Tuesdays)…the rest of the week, you will consume carbs based on your macros. You can read more about carb cycling here. During the initial trainings next week, we will watch videos together and provide instructions on how to carb cycle effectively.
INTERMITTENT FASTING | FASTING TURNS YOUR BODY INTO A FAT BURNER
AND it reduces your risk of Type 2 diabetes. A daily fast allows your insulin levels to remain regulated and stable. This means that your insulin levels are able to function optimally throughout the day, which then means you are less likely to become insulin resistant, and less likely to become diabetic. Studies have shown that intermittent fasting reduces overall blood sugar levels by 3-6% 1 . It also can also prevent disease and boost your immune system–and Lord knows we all need that right now. Intermittent fasting allows you to maintain muscle mass, which speeds up your metabolic rate, helping you shed fat.
Now that I have your attention, let me explain a little. When intermittent fasting, you technically do not skip meals…you are simply consuming your calories in a dedicated window of time, learning the most effective eating schedule. For me (and for the FASTer Way program), I “fast” for 16 hours and eat for 8. Luckily, half of the 16 hours is overnight while sleeping. Don’t worry, your body will acclimate pretty quickly. After fasting for the past 9 months, my mind is clearer, energy levels higher, workouts more effective, and relationship with food stronger. And you get to actually enjoy the foods you want to enjoy during the dedicated time period.
TRACKING MACROS | LEARN HOW TO FUEL YOUR BODY CORRECTLY
For me, this was the most daunting part of FWTFL. I was terrified to be glued to an app, having to document every single thing I consumed. However, it’s pretty simple. To sum it up, macro-nutrients consist of fats, proteins, and carbs. When you start FWTFL, the first thing you will do is download the MyFitnessPal app. In conjunction with Coach Allie, you will enter your body weight, height, age, etc to get your macronutrient percentages. The key point here: you will NOT be counting calories. BOOM, let’s eat!
IS FASTER WAY TO FAT LOSS WORTH IT?
After doing Whole30 for several years, I needed something else. The Whole30 program is very effective, but it is extremely TOUGH. After eliminating so many foods that I loved and struggling to stay on track each day, I was ready for a change. I have PLENTY of content on Whole30 here, if you want to check it out. However, within the first 3 weeks of FWTFL, I noticed results and fell in love with the community aspect. The coaches are dedicated to your success, are positive and uplifting, and help guide you throughout every step of your journey. FWTFL was the first “diet” where I could enjoy the foods I love, without starving myself or dreading meals each day.
To answer THE most asked question: YES, you can drink alcohol. Obviously, drinking too much can slow down your results, but feel free to have a drink or two on treat day, as long as it fits within your macros.

7 lbs lost
3.5 inches off my waist
1 inch off each of my legs
.5 inches off each of my arms
6.5 total inches lost!
