TRAIN IT

That’s right, you heard me correctly. Just like exercising, you have to TRAIN your hair to achieve positive results. Try this for me, please ma’am. Wash your hair on a Wednesday and then see how long you can go. Fight through it, don’t wash it, and limit the products. I realize at first, you may feel like you need to use dry shampoo or to put your hair in a ponytail, but try to avoid it. Now, start increasing this each week by 1 day. Eventually, you will get to 7 days, BUT the next 4 tips are CRUCIAL to achieving this. When you go this long without washing your hair, you need to use a purifying shampoo to combat build-up.

USE A PURIFYING SHAMPOO

Scalp oils, styling products, dry shampoo, and dirt all cause build-up. Sometimes this build-up can result in hair gaining 4 percent (OH EM GEE) of its own weight. So, how do we fix this? Use a purifying shampoo such as Pantene Charcoal Collection’s Shampoo. It’s a purifying, nutrient-infused shampoo with a Pro-V blend of activated Charcoal, pro-vitamin B5 and antioxidants. Free of silicone, parabens and dyes, the activated charcoal cleanses hair and the scalp to help remove dirt and impurities. I follow this up with the Pantene Charcoal Collections’s Conditioner, which is also free of silicone, parabens, and dyes. It rinses out quickly and easily (worst feeling ever when you can’t get the conditioner out), leaving your hair feeling clean and looking super shiny!

Charcoal is being used EVERYWHERE within both the health and beauty spaces right now. Go ahead…Google charcoal health benefits and prepare to be floored. Pantene’s latest collection uses activated charcoal, a purifying ingredient, to detox hair by attracting impurities like a magnet, while releasing antioxidants helping it look refreshed and clean with renewed body and shine.

These products were game-changers for me. My hair felt softer, cleaner, and more manageable. The night after I tried it, I received so many compliments on how thick and smooth my hair looked. AND I even made it 8 days between washings! Let me repeat that…8-days-without-washing AND without using dry shampoo. I’ll get more into that in a bit.

BLOW DRY YOUR HAIR…DO NOT LET IT AIR DRY

When chatting with you guys on Instagram, a lot of you told me that you wash your hair at night then let it air dry. BIG MISTAKE…HUGE! Actually, I was guilty of this too, so I decided to test out my theory. For 2 weeks, I washed my hair and let it air dry. The MAX length of time I made it without washing my hair was 3 days. And I have been washing my hair once a week for years. I think there is something to applying the dry heat to your hair that makes it feel cleaner, longer. Make sure you use some sort of heat protectant before drying. And no need to style it…simply dry it. If you need to dry it AND style it, try wearing it straight for a few days then use a curling wand the next few days.

USE SWEAT TO YOUR ADVANTAGE

I try to work out 4-5 days per week. WAIT, WHAT? You work out up to 5 days a week and only wash your hair once a week? What kind of workouts are you doing? Honestly, my workouts are INTENSE. Think CrossFit and OrangeTheory. I sweat a LOT. However, you can use this sweat to your advantage. Who has heard of and/or used root boost? Well, sweat can create the same effect. Immediately after a workout, take your hair down…do not leave it in a ponytail. If you can, dry your hair with a blow dryer, fluffing it at the root. If you are going back to work, use a straightener or curling rod to style it. Otherwise, leave it alone. If you don’t have to use dry shampoo, try to avoid it. If you MUST use it, dry your hair completely, then apply lightly.

AVOID DRY SHAMPOO…AND STOP PLAYING WITH YOUR HAIR!

Yall are going to hate me for this, but I promise, you don’t need it. All it does is create build up and make your hair feel YUCK. If you absolute need to use it, apply it very sparingly, brush through your hair well, and hit it with the blow dryer. Lastly, stop touching your hair, stop putting it up in a ponytail constantly, and stop brushing it so much. Your hands are oily. And dirty. The more you touch your hair, the dirtier and oiler it becomes.

I realize this all sounds like a lot. But I promise, if you put in the work, it will pay dividends. Less washing=more time to live your best life. Go ahead and start training your hair. Stretch it an extra day each week and watch your hair literally transform. Also, keep hair clean and refreshed in between washes with the Pantene Charcoal Collection. And the best news? If you buy two Charcoal Collection products (in-store or online), you will receive a $5 gift card from Target.
