LOCAL IS BETTER: PEPPER PLACE.

For those of you who know me, you know how much I LOVE the city I live in: Birmingham, AL. Over the last 8 years, I have not only been lucky to call “The Ham” home, but I have also witnessed it evolve into one of THE coolest cities in the Southeast. Known for it’s fabulous culinary scene and local culture, Birmingham is an awesome place for young adults to live and raise a family.

One of my absolute FAV places is the Pepper Place Farmer’s market. It is a crucial part of our weekly Saturday tradition: Iron Tribe, Pepper Place, dog walk in the park, and then a boozy lunch. Since I travel every week, I look forward to this time with the hubs more than anything. We have become friends with a lot of the vendors at Pepper Place and refuse to get our veggies anywhere else. How cool is it to be able to go to the market, pick out your veggies for the week, and plan your meals around what you purchased that day, all while supporting local farmers? We even get our pork, eggs, and chicken there. Local TRULY IS better! If you are lucky, you may even run into some Birmingham’s own celebrity chefs…Frank and Pardis Stitt are known to frequent the market for veggies to serve at their world-renowned restaurants. If you have not visited Pepper Place, you MUST go THIS Saturday. Don’t worry, it opens bright and early, so you will have plenty of time to shop prior to THE big game this week…Bama @ Ole Miss. Hotty Toddy, yall!

Last week I mentioned starting a weekly or monthly “MUST HAVE” feature. In addition, I would like to incorporate a LOCAL is BETTER post that spotlights my favorite things about this great city.
