Change is powerful, yet uncomfortable. Change takes time, and it takes courage. In order to change, we must first swallow our pride. Next, look ourselves in the mirror, have the self-awareness to see what needs to be changed, and take one step forward to initiate the change. It’s time we get comfortable with the uncomfortable. That’s simply the only way we will get better. It’s the truly the only way we can move past social injustices and move towards becoming anti-racist together.
It was early Wednesday morning around 4am. I couldn’t sleep. The gravity of everything going on was simply wearing on me. I knew I wanted to help the people that were fighting for our health and safety…but I didn’t know how. I started scrolling Twitter and Instagram, looking for ideas. And I asked myself, “what was something simple that would make my day if I was on the frontline of all of this?” FOOD. The simple answer was FOOD.

The 2 year old is screaming, because the 4 year old pushed him down and took his paci. The hubs is sitting outside, zoned out on a conference call. I am on the phone with a coworker, making breakfast, unloading the dishwasher, pulling the kids apart, AND debating whether or not to just say screw it and make a mimosa. Or a screwdriver. Or whatever can get…
