Happy Monday, guys! I hope you all had a FABULOUS weekend! It was hotter than HELL here, but we still had an awesome weekend. I know I posted this on my INSTA yesterday, but I really do mean it. Weekends with my loves give me allllll the feels. We are pretty consistent [aka we do the exact same thing] when it comes to Saturdays and Sundays, but I wouldn’t change them for the world. Ryan and I literally race into Asher’s room on Saturday mornings to get him out of bed. The little prince lets us sleep in, but Ryan typically wants to be Productive Pete. So we are up and at em bright and early. First, we head to Iron Tribe to get in a quick WOD, while Mini hangs with Gigi and Big Daddy. Then, we brave the heat at the Pepper Place Farmer’s market to grab our veggies for the week. For breakfast, we either go to Revelator for avocado toast (one of Asher’s favs) and coffee or to Alabama Biscuit Company for THE most amazing biscuits ever. Afterwards, it’s nap time for Miniature, so Ryan and I can chill for a few hours. Then off to Bottega Cafe we go! I LIVE for these days as a family! What do you guys typically do on the weekends? Ok, onto the post! How obsessed are you guys with the OFF THE SHOULDER trend right now? If you grew up in the 90’s, you remember this style. However, this time around, these tops tend to be more feminine and less grungy (until I get a hold of one!) ala Kelly Kapowski.
Add a little EDGE to your feminine style
Don’t be afraid to mix styles and textures, even in the summer. The current off the shoulder tops tend to be very girly, so of course, I am inclined to edge it up a little. These tops are a subtle way of showing a little skin. Typically, they are soft and romantic, but can also be more structured. This one in particular is a little more structured, so I chose to pair it with some soft, flowy jean shorts to add dimension and comfort. These shorts are more traditional, but I love the high waist. Again, thinking texture and edge, I paired with my ah-may-zing star sneaksers (on sale) and ASOS choker. This choker from my 90’s Fashion post has been on maj repeat. Off the Shoulder Tips
-Invest in a strapless bra or a Nu Bra (must have necessity)
-Use fashion tape to keep the top in place.
-Speaking of keeping the top in place, fit is VERY important.
-Pair with high waisted shorts, jeans (skinny or flare), or even a midi length denim skirt (love this one and ON SALE).
-Pair with simple earrings and a choker or long necklace to pay homage to the 90’s even more. Big earrings and a cute clutch can make this look more feminine.
-Pair with wedges or a stacked heel (my FAV white pumps on SALE) for a dressier option or sneaks ($80 and so on trend right now) or espadrilles ($54 and ah-dorbs) for a more casual look.
-If you are not quite comfortable with a complete off the shoulder, try a cold shoulder top (love this ASOS option for $68).
