Fall.

Fall. - Life Lutzurious; Fall is my your favorite time of year! The colors, the crisp air, the scent of Christmas in every store you walk into. Last Sunday, the hubs and I ventured out to brunch at our FAVORITE spot: Chez Lulu. As we drove down the road, I started snapping pictures of the changing leaves and the bright blue sky. We noticed the deep reds, the bright oranges, and the happy yellows. I was in awe! Fall always inspires me to dig into my closet! All I knew was that I needed to purge the closet!

Fall.  Is it your favorite time of year or what?  The colors, the crisp air, the scent of Christmas in every store you walk into.  I love it.  And it’s so unexpected.  Last Sunday, the hubs and I ventured out to brunch at our FAVORITE spot: Chez Lulu.  As we drove down the road, I started snapping pictures of the changing leaves and the bright blue sky.  We noticed the deep reds, the bright oranges, and the happy yellows.  I was in awe!!!

Fall always inspires me to dig into the closet and bring out my favorite pieces.  Maybe it was the crisp air, the need to simplify, or the guilt of all the shopping I have been doing lately.  I am not sure, but all I knew was that I needed to purge the closet.  While emptying (literally over 50% gone) out my closet, I ran across one of my go-to staples from Fall 2013: my shearling and suede vest.  And how perfect is that now?  Shearling is HUGE this season.  It can be casual, glamorous, trendy, and classic at the same time.  In these pictures, I love how the grays mix with the tan and the elegance of the shearling.  Pretty cute for an outfit I threw together in about 5 minutes.  The mix of the fabrics and the color ways scream FALL.  And the grays, the ripped jeans, and the turtleneck scream 90’s grunge modernized by the structured hat and the sparkly boots.  These boots, though.  I could dedicate an entire post to these boots.

As I have grown older (and wiser  of course ;)), I have really shied away from feeling like I need to purchase a new outfit every time I step out of the house.  My purchases now are more investment pieces that can be styled many ways.  Granted, trendy, but trendy pieces that boast long-term staying power, i.e. shearling.  These pieces may cost a little more, but I wear them throughout the season.  These are pieces that I adore and can’t wait to wear again…even if they show up on Instagram more than once. (GASP!)

As I cleaned out my closet Sunday afternoon and removed over 200 pieces of clothing, I felt terrible.  Why would someone EVER need that many clothes?  It was nice to purge the things I had worn once (or never at all) and focus on the pieces that I adore.  It’s been fun re-styling them and complimenting them with all-things FALL 2014.

So, that’s my challenge to each of you.  Look for pieces that have that IT-FACTOR, that have staying power.  They can be traditional or trendy, over-the-top or simple, but make sure you love them and can’t wait to wear them again.  I am happy to help brainstorm with you…contact me ANYTIME at [email protected].  I ADORE getting emails from each of you.
